The Bahrain Financial Harbour located in Al Manama is the home of Bahrain’s stock market and is likened to a Canary Warf of the Middle East, both in terms of its waterfront setting and significance in global financial markets. The epicentres of Bahrain Financial Harbour are towering 53 story sister towers, which reflect Bahrain’s strive upwards in both the Middle East and the global economy. Juxtaposed next to the old harbour, the fishing port and the old souq, the contrast of the old and new landscapes are testimonial to the dramatic changes in the urban economy that are being felt in capital cities throughout the world today.

Halcrow’s updated master plan for this site, breaks the mould from traditional CBD’s, and provides a mixture of business, commercial, tourism, inner-city living and entertainment uses to guarantee vitality during the day and night. This is a critically important consideration in the Middle Eastern context as most people come out into the street after the sun has gone down. The master plan not only delivers an iconic financial centre, but lends itself to human scale by providing a variety of activities carefully connected through a planned pedestrian network built within a legible urban framework.
