It is a successful case study of “Open Community” in China.
The Riverbank Rhine development is located in Yibin City in Sichuan Province. Yibin is also known as the“original city” of the Yangtze River. The south bank of the Yangtze where the site is situated, is the fastest growing district of Yibin. The site originally housed the factory of Yibin Grace Group, and now will be redeveloped into an administrative, commercial, financial and recreational centre for the city. With its superior waterfront location and cultural heritage as a historic factory, the site will provide the setting for a modern landmark residential area with integrated commercial functions and administrative functions.
This project has now been approved for implementation. With a development cost of 1.5 billion RMB, the project covers some 485mu, with a floor area ratio of 2.5, building density of 30%, and an open space ratio of 40%. The total floor area will be around 800,000 sq m. Of this, some 640,000 sq m will be residential, and 160,000 sq m are reserved for commercial use.
The development is the first in Yibin to adopt a European vernacular style of architecture, and will become a landmark on completion. The architectural style for Riverbank Rhine takes inspiration from traditional German building vocabulary. The scheme’s layout follows international models with the creation of squares at the confluence of major streets, and inward facing residential zones. The overall design objective has been to create a unique address and visitor destination for Yibin.
